Journalist Ken Loney claims that a hostile mob is attempting to storm Dr. Mendez’s downtown office one snowy morning. The radio then receives conflicting reports from witnesses on a potential outbreak in Pontypool. Dr. Mendez smashes in the glass as a throng suddenly tries to storm the radio station. After learning that Laurel is infected, Grant, Sidney, and Dr. Mendez seek safety by locking themselves in Grant’s soundproof cabin. Abruptly, Dr. Mendez discovers that English-speaking words are the source of the viral epidemic.
